Full sheets - all information

Here you will find all the important information about smooth sheet metal.

What is Full sheets?

Full sheets are flat metal plates made from various materials such as steel, stainless steel or aluminum. In contrast to textured sheets or rolled tear plates , Full sheets have a uniform, smooth surface without patterns or elevations.

They are produced by rolling the raw material to the desired thickness, with state-of-the-art production technologies enabling precise control over material thickness and surface quality.

Full sheets are characterized by their versatility and form the basis for numerous applications in industry, trade and architecture. Depending on the material and thickness, they can be easily formed, cut, bent or welded. Their smooth surface makes them ideal for applications that require a flat surface, whether for functional or aesthetic reasons.

Full sheets are used in numerous industries and applications due to their versatile properties. Here is an overview of the most important areas of application:

Mechanical engineering and industry:

Non-slip floor coverings in production facilities and workshops

  • Enclosures and cladding for machines and systems
  • Tanks and containers for liquids and bulk materials
  • Worktops and surfaces in production facilities

Transportation and vehicle construction:

  • Body parts for cars, trucks and rail vehicles
  • Bodies for special vehicles

Construction and architecture:

  • Smooth sheet metal façades in modern architecture
  • Roof cladding or wall coverings
  • Interior fittings for walls and ceilings

Food industry:

  • Hygienic work surfaces in commercial kitchens
  • Cladding for cold storage rooms and food warehouses

Protective functions:

  • Edge protection at corners
  • Heat shields for use in high-temperature areas
  • Splash guards in commercial kitchens

Home and DIY:

  • Fireproof and robust underlays for fireplaces
  • DIY projects such as wall decorations, lampshades or plant signs

Full sheets offer a number of advantages that make them an excellent choice for various applications:

  • Versatility: Full sheets are suitable for numerous applications in trade, industry and the private sector.
  • Flexibility: Full sheets offer many further processing options such as cutting, bending, forming, polishing, painting, welding or coating.
  • Aesthetics: The smooth, even surface of smooth sheet metal enables a clear, aesthetic appearance.
  • Easy to clean: Full sheets are particularly easy to clean and maintain, which is a particular advantage in hygiene-sensitive areas.
  • Corrosion resistance: Full sheets made of materials such as stainless steel or aluminum offer excellent resistance to corrosion and weathering.
  • Stability: Depending on the Material and thickness, smooth sheets can withstand high mechanical loads.

Smooth sheet is mainly made from steel, stainless steel and aluminum. Depending on the intended use, it can then be further processed.

  • Smooth stainless steel sheet: Stainless steel sheet offers excellent corrosion resistance and hygiene. Commonly used alloys are stainless steel 1.4301 and stainless steel 1.4401.
  • Smooth sheet steel: Sheet steel is characterized by its high strength and good workability. They are cost-effective and are particularly suitable for applications where stability and load-bearing capacity are paramount
  • Smooth sheet aluminum: Aluminum, often used as pure aluminum (AL 99.5), is corrosion-resistant, easy to form and lightweight. It also has good temperature resistance.
  • Galvanized smooth sheet: Galvanized steel sheets offer a combination of the advantages of steel and additional corrosion protection.
  • Smooth copper sheet: Copper sheets are often used for decorative purposes and in roof construction. They develop a characteristic patina over time.
  • Smooth brass sheet: Brass sheet combines good workability with an attractive gold-like appearance.

The process begins with the selection and preparation of the raw material, usually in the form of steel ingots, aluminum blocks or other metal alloys. The raw material is then hot-rolled into thin sheets at temperatures of around 1,200-1,300 °C. After cooling, the sheet is cold-rolled to the desired final thickness and then cleaned.

Depending on the desired end product, various surface treatments can follow, such as grinding, polishing or coating (e.g. for galvanized sheet metal). Finally, the sheets are cut to standard sizes or customer-specific dimensions.
