Depending on the specific application, spot-welded meshes with variable mesh widths are required. For example, narrow meshes from a size of 11.2 x 11.2 mm are required to protect against pests. Welded meshes are smooth metal wires that are laid on top of each other and permanently welded together at right angles at intersections. This is why they are also referred to as spot-welded mesh. In contrast to this are woven grids.

Welded mesh offers a robust and versatile solution for numerous industrial applications. They can be made from various materials such as steel or stainless steel and offer high load-bearing capacity and stability. To provide additional protection against corrosion, welded mesh can be hot-dip galvanized

Spot-welded mesh is used in a wide range of areas and sectors. These include industry, agriculture, the food trade, horticulture, trade and construction. They are used, for example, as protective grids, for shelving in warehouse logistics or as fences and grids in animal husbandry. They are traditionally used to enclose sports fields or gardens and as a mesh construction for soccer goals. Spot-welded steel grilles offer you many advantages:

  • Corrosion resistance: Hot-dip galvanized spot-welded grilles offer excellent corrosion protection. A zinc alloy is applied to the steel of the grille, making it more resistant to rust.
  • Versatility: Spot-welded mesh made of steel or stainless steel is manufactured in a wide variety of designs, dimensions, mesh thicknesses and mesh widths. They can be further refined in various processes and can be flexible or torsion-resistant depending on the mesh thickness. This makes them a popular and versatile construction element.
  • Stability: Due to the welding process, the grids have a very high stability. This makes them an extremely robust Material for protective elements and protective fencing.
  • Aesthetics: Spot-welded grilles impress with their high-quality glossy appearance and are also used as design or decorative elements.

Welded grilles are available in stainless steel or steel. Depending on the intended use, they can then be further processed by hot-dip galvanizing, for example.

  • Stainless steel: Due to its corrosion resistance, good workability and durability, stainless steel is ideal for grilles used outdoors or in damp environments. Commonly used types are stainless steel 1.4301, stainless steel 1.4404 and stainless steel 1.4571.
  • Steel: Steel is characterized above all by its high strength and is around 1/3 cheaper than stainless steel. This is why steel grating is often used in the construction industry. Hot-dip galvanized steel is also more resistant to corrosion than untreated steel.

Welded mesh consists of smooth wires of various thicknesses made of steel, stainless steel or aluminum. In the manufacturing process, the wires are laid on top of each other at right angles and firmly joined together using resistance spot welding. The cross points are pressed together using two electrodes. The flow of current generates thermal energy that heats the joining partners up to the welding temperature, causing them to fuse together and harden as they cool.
