Founded in Hanover, Lower Saxony
On February 1, 1982, Peter Radtke and Michael Jänisch founded the company JAERA in Hanover (Bachstraße, Lower Saxony). With a warehouse of around 250 m², the Germany-wide distribution of perforated metal sheets, filter tubes, grease trap filters and steel cabinets began - a solid entry into the metal processing and sheet metal and grating industry, initially with a focus on the German market.
Expansion and specialization in Hanover
In 1984, the company moved to a larger warehouse in Hanover (An der Weide). With around 1,000 m² of warehouse space, JAERA specialized in Perforated sheet and Expanded metal - an important step towards early market differentiation and positioning as a competent supplier of metal products in Germany.
Team building for sustainable growth
The first employees were hired in 1988 - a milestone for further professionalization, growth and even more reliable customer service in the metal trade.
Expansion of logistics with the company's own truck
In 1990, the first company-owned truck was purchased. This optimized transport system enabled on-time deliveries and increased customer satisfaction throughout Germany.
Europe's largest perforated sheet warehouse in Hanover-Laatzen
In 1992, JAERA moved to Hanover-Laatzen (Lower Saxony) to a warehouse with around 4,000 m² of space (2,000 m² of which was for own use). This gave the company Europe's largest perforated sheet warehouse - a clear competitive advantage and an important location factor for Europe-wide sales.
Europe-wide distribution without minimum quantities
In 1998, we expanded our distribution throughout Europe. JAERA deliberately dispensed with minimum order quantities - a customer-friendly offer that enables maximum flexibility and fast response times for Perforated sheet in Europe.
Introduction of field service for personal advice
In 2000, our field service was launched to strengthen customer advice and service on site and to further intensify cooperation with metal processors and trading partners in Germany and Europe.
Maximum storage capacity for an extensive range
In 2002, the entire storage capacity of around 4,000 m² was utilized in order to efficiently handle the growing demand and wide range of metal products and sheet metal.
Product range expansion
In 2003, we expanded our product portfolio to offer our customers in Germany and Europe even more comprehensive solutions from a single source. JAERA stands for a broad stock program: from perforated sheets, textured sheets, expanded and corrugated wire mesh to welded wire mesh, Welded wire and mesh, edging profiles and corner connectors - a comprehensive range for metal processing.
Opening of the company's own cutting center
In 2006, we opened our own cutting center in Hanover: individual cuts of up to 3,000 mm in length are now available within 1-2 working days - perfect for dimensionally accurate requirements in industry and trade.
25 years of JAERA: a quarter of a century of success in metal trading and processing
JAERA celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2007. Since its foundation in Hanover, the company has developed into an established supplier of Perforated sheet, Expanded metal, welded mesh and other semi-finished metal products - with a strong market presence in Germany and Europe. The anniversary marked a look back at numerous milestones, including product range expansions, in-house logistics solutions and the expansion of warehouse capacities - as well as the outlook for sustainable growth in the metal trade.
Efficient logistics through cooperation with external forwarders
In 2009, the company's own fleet of vehicles was abolished. Since then, deliveries have been carried out by professional external forwarders, which has reduced standard delivery times to 1-2 working days and further increased efficiency.
Expansion of the product range to include teardrop and warp plates
In 2010, we expanded our product range to include tear plates and warp plates in order to make the product selection even more attractive for our customers in the metal processing and construction industries.
Generational change at JAERA: Family business in its second generation
In 2011, Michael Radtke and Oliver Jänisch took over the management of the company as the second generation. Both had already been with the company for over ten years and have since continued to lead the specialist for Perforated sheet and metal products with responsibility and vision.
Introduction of a modern warehouse management system
In 2013, the company introduced its own modern merchandise management system. Since then, quotations and orders have been processed in a maximum of 30 minutes; orders placed by 2 p.m. are loaded on the same day - for maximum efficiency in the sheet metal trade.
Range extended to include stainless steel fullFull sheets and Pattern rolled sheets
In 2016, we added stainless steel fullFull sheets and Pattern rolled sheets such as linen, check and leather (also as 5 WL/7 GM) to our range - for even more variety and application options in the metal trade.
Complete service with anti-slip plates
In 2018, we introduced our full service: in addition to classic perforated sheets, we now also offer anti-slip Perforated sheet, Crimped wire mesh flat and individual cuts - all from a single source, for the highest demands.
40 years of JAERA: Proud anniversary and Europe-wide market presence
JAERA celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2022. The company has developed from a regional supplier to a valued partner for Perforated sheet, Expanded metal and metal products throughout Europe - with a focus on quality, service and long-term customer loyalty.

In 2023, we introduced home office structures - for a better work-life balance, reduced commuting times and noticeable CO₂ savings. At the same time, energy-saving measures were implemented for end devices and lighting - a clear commitment to the environment, team and service.
Extended showroom for individual customer advice
In 2024, we expanded our showroom to include new sample cabinets and display cases to offer our customers even more individual and clear advice on site. In addition, we offer free shipping of hand samples or direct pick-up on site - for maximum flexibility and tangible material quality.

In 2025, we significantly intensified our social media activities.
